Are you installing on Windows XP?
When installing EasyDirector® on your personal computer you must select where EasyDirector® software is installed. Typical installation directory on Windows XP is C:\Program Files\EasyDirector directory, otherwise may get installation error. You do not need to make this directory selection if installing on Windows 7 or Windows Vista, just click next when you get to this part of the installation.
Are you installing on Windows 7 or Vista?

Due to the new security and permission level introduced by Microsoft in these operating systems, you may need to modify your permission and ownership level for the directory containing your EasyDirector® installation. The latest installation will install EasyDirector® in your user application directory by default where your permission and ownership level should by default contain modify, read & execute and write.

Symptoms
:
1. Access Denied reported on the command prompt when EasyDirector® was launched.
2. Problem loading EasyDirector® page is displayed.
3. Unable to connect is displayed on the web browser.

Solution 1
:
1. Uninstall your current installation of EasyDirector®.
2. Download and install the latest version of EasyDirector®.

Solution 2:
1. Follow the instructions on this document to change your permission level for the Directory containing EasyDirector® installation. Change Permission Document

Do I need additional software and hardware to run EasyDirector®?
No. Once you have Microsoft® Interner Explorer, Netscape or Firefox installed on your computer you are good to go.
Do I need to undertake any manual installation for EasyDirector®?
  1. No for windows platform. EasyDirector® comes as a setup file. Double click on the setup file and follow the instructions on the setup screen.

  2. For web-based platform, you will need to untar the tar file to your location and run the started.sh to begin the use of EasyDirector®.
Why do you have a lifetime guarantee on your products?
We are so confident about all editions of EasyDirector®. You have a free lifetime guarantee and upgrade to the latest edition because we only maintain a single, backward compatible and enhanced edition. We shall continue to provide upgrade setup file or script for our existing customer.
Why the annual subscription?

We provide you with a license that last only for a year from the date of purchase:

  1. This makes the software affordable to small and medium size businesses that are going through the transition of implementing Contact Relationship Management (CRM) software for managing their businesses.
  2. This ensures that all our customers have access to the latest version of EasyDirector® at any point in time.
  3. We only maintain a single version of EasyDirector® at a point in time. This is continuously upgraded and made available to all our customers.
Why is EasyDirector® displaying only Master Contact when I clicked on other contacts?
Install the latest EasyDirector®. This problem has been solved.
How do I install the latest version and not loose my data?
  1. Download the latest EasyDirector® from this page or home page.
  2. Start your EasyDirector® software and Login.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Administration.
  4. Click Export or Import EasyDirector® Data link.
  5. Click on the Export Data button. This will create a backup file.
  6. Save the backup file in safe place.
  7. Shutdown your EasyDirector®.
  8. Uninstall EasyDirector® software. For Windows users, the uninstall link is under Programs, EasyDirector® link.
  9. On your browser, click on Tools, Internet Options, under the Browsing History, click on Delete...,
  10. Select Temporary Internet Files, Cookies, and Form Data..
  11. Then click on delete to remove all temporary internet files relating to previous installation of EasyDirector®.
  12. Double click on the exe to install EasyDirector®, or extract the tar file into the EasyDirector® directory.
  13. Follow steps 2, 3, 4 and the instruction on the export page to import your exported data.
  14. Shutdown EasyDirector® and restart it to begin the use of the latest version of EasyDirector®.
Do you need to migrate your contacts from spreadsheet or other systems?
We offer data migration services onsite or remotely. Contact us at customerserv @ easydirector . biz for more information.
Do you want to import your contacts from Goggle (gmail) and Outlook into EasyDirector®?
  1. Click on the help link of EasyDirector® for details on how to import contacts from a spreadsheet into EasyDirector®.
  2. Export your contacts from Outlook or Goggle gmail into a spreadsheet. The output format from outlook and gmail is a CSV format.
  3. Open this file with excel and copy the respective columns into the columns provided in EasyDirector® template.
  4. Upload your contacts into EasyDirector® as directed in the Help document provided with EasyDirector® install.
Which browser works best with EasyDirector®?
  1. EasyDirector® has been fully tested with the following browsers and the best results are in the order listed:
    1. Windows Explorer
    2. Google Chrome
    3. Firefox
How do I get my computer hostname or name?
In Windows 7, Vista, XP, or 2000

1. On the desktop, right-click Computer (in Vista) or My Computer (in Windows 7, XP, and 2000), and then select Properties.
2. In the window that appears, your computer name will be displayed under "Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings" (in Vista) or next to "Full computer name:" (in Windows 7, XP, and 2000).

Using the command prompt
1. From the Start menu, select All Programs or Programs, then Accessories, and then Command Prompt.
2. In the window that opens, at the prompt, enter hostname . The result on the next line of the command prompt window will display the hostname of the machine without the domain.

  1. Default installation for EasyDirector® has now been set to the user application directory to avoid the ownership and permission (access denied) issue reported by our users.
  2. New links have been created under the EasyDirector® Program links for the load contacts, products and documents spreadsheet. Use this template for loading multiple contacts, products or documents.
  3. To minimize typing effort, click on preload the parent Contact details on Add a new Contact page when creating a contact as a subordinate contact.
  4. Field should not be empty dialog prevents user from continuing data entry. This bug has been fixed on all pages.
  5. When copy & paste data into description fields only the first line is displayed. This bug has been fixed for all pages containing description fields. This pages includes note history, product details, contact details, schedule, and document and opportunity pages.
  6. For administrative users, systems log has been made available through the administration page.
  7. For administrative users, mail server details can now be easily entered through the administration page.
  8. Add Contact not responding to Save button when clicked.

  1. Improved sales automation process. Sales Quotes and Purchase orders can now be created from Order Manager page through order checklist. Orders and Quotes can be approved, rejected, printed, canceled, converted to invoice or emailed to prospective vendor or customer.
  2. Reports can be generated for purchase orders, sales quotes or invoices of specified dates and search criteria.
  3. Default parent ID during edit contact has now been fixed. None will be selected by default, unless you select a parent for the contact.
  4. A message will now be displayed when configuration changes is saved successfully from the Administrative page.

  6. Add Contact has been expanded to accommodate lengthy address.
  7. Fixed "Saved Only" button for the creation of sales quotes or order checklist.

  10. Now accepts png for logos when adding or editing contacts.
  11. Increase logo size for your business as added to the top of every page.
  12. Rearrange the logos and mission statement shown at the top of every page.
  13. Fixed contact person error of only displaying the master contact person for every contact.
  14. Stable version of EasyDirector®. You can execute all major business functions.
  15. Communicate with your contacts & customers using Send Email in EasyDirector® has been fixed. (August 30, 2010).
  16. Schedule Manager supports reoccurring events. Events lasting for more than one day appear everyday until the end of the event.
